Zürs is located in the middle of one of the largest and most beautiful ski areas in the world! Thanks to the erection of the new Flexenbahn cable car, the Arlberg is now the largest contiguous ski area in Austria!
For the first time, skiers can now zip from Zürs to the Stuben/St. Christoph and St. Anton ski resorts without taking off their skis, just as they have long been able to do when skiing to Lech, Warth and Schröcken. This is doubtlessly one of the most beautiful ski experiences in fashionable surroundings featuring the most beautiful landscapes! Enjoy over 300 kilometres of ski runs and around 200 kilometres of high-Alpine powder snow runs. The mountains around Zürs offer superlative ski experiences for skiers of all ability levels!
Despite the fact that an enormous ski area stretches from Warth/Schröcken in the north to St. Anton in the south, the Arlberg ski area additionally features special "ski routes!" These are round trip routes that challenge the ambitions of sporty skiers or simply make for a nice day of skiing without too many repeated descents on just a few slopes.
One such ski route is the legendary Der Weisse Ring ("The White Ring), a ski circuit which, when starting from Zürs, leads via the Madloch chairlift to Zug and up to the Lech area below the Kriegerhorn mountain and down to Lech, then back up to the Rüflispitze and from there via the Hexenboden back to Zürs. Every January, more than 1,000 racers dare to take part in the 22-kilometre race specially organised for this purpose. (For more information see here)
If you are keen on something a bit shorter, you can take the small Zürs circuit around the Hasenfluh massif, which towers steeply over the village on the western side. Starting in Zürs, ascend up to Zürsersee lake and from there descend via the Muggengrat ridge behind the Flexen Pass back to the Trittkopfbahn cable car. From here, either go to Hexenboden back to the starting point or head downhill directly below the Hexenboden to the outskirts of Zürs. From here, take the cable cars up to Zürsersee lake or the Seekopf mountain.
The Run of Fame:
Along the ”Run of Fame,” visitors embark on a new spectacular ski tour on the Arlberg. The 65-km tour, with 18,000 metres of ascent and descent, is dedicated to the stars of sport and film, who have skied the slopes and left their mark there in the past. Although these traces may have disappeared on the slopes, they will remain forever in the history of the Arlberg.
Skiers of average ability need just one day for the ‘Run of Fame,’ which takes them through the entire ski area, providing one highlight after the other - from St. Anton, St. Christoph, Stuben via Zürs and Lech to Schröcken and Warth.
The Hall of Fame is a unique memorial to the legendary pioneers of the Arlberg at the middle station of the Trittkopfbahn cable car and the mountain station of the Flexenbahn cable car. Those who step inside, embark on a unique journey with fascinating encounters and legendary milestones.
